who are we?

Hi my lovelies, my names Xaynia, the face behind Studio 73 Dance Collective!! Thought I’d take this opportunity to give you all a little backstory on my journey and how we got here!🫶🏼

I started dancing when I was 3 years old. My dance journey started with Freestyle Disco and Rock and Roll (as many of us did), competing in comps across the country and more notably at the Blackpool Winter Gardens - these were some of the best years of my life and sometimes I wish I could go back🥰
I gave up my competition days when I was around 12 years old and went down the Musical Theatre route, attending stage schools. This is where I found a new found love for performing - not just dancing but acting and singing as well! I knew that I didn’t just want this to be a hobby, I wanted this to be my career!!

Skipping a few chapters now, I auditioned for Bodywork Performing Arts in Cambridge. Never in a million years did I expect to get accepted, as I hadn’t done a ballet class since I was 6 and my dance training was fairly beginner and basic at this point. But much to my surprise I got offered a place on their Foundation Course and from this I went on to the 3-year diploma course in Professional Performing Arts.
4 years, a multitude of injuries and mental breakdowns later…I graduated👩🏻‍🎓 !!
Feeling lost and unsure what I wanted to do with my training, I started to give up on this being my career - and right when I was about to close the chapter on dance completely, I was offered a teaching position at Bodywork for their open adult classes and it wholeheartedly changed my life!
The community and family we have built through shared passion and love for moving to music is unbelievable! This is why I decided to create Studio 73 Dance Collective - to share this passion further and offer so much more!!🫶🏼

I’m so excited to meet new faces and welcome you all into our family!! Thank you so much for joining me on this journey 🩵🩷
